As teacher's and teacher candidates, we are always attending professional development (PD) conferences and seminars. Professional development seminars help teachers keep up to date with current issues to better teach our students! As a teacher, you never stop learning.
I was able to attend a PD day offered by the Canadian Wildlife Federation called, Project WILD. I was interested in participating in this PD day because I thought it was add to my geography background/expertise. The Canadian Wildlife Federation is very concerned with our natural environment and sustainability. Moreover, the Canadian Wildlife Federation encourages all people to better understand our environment in order to promote environmentally friendly behaviour and interaction among humans and the natural environment.
The Canadian Wildlife Federation created Project WIlD as an educational program to help individuals make more informed decisions regarding the environment. The goal of the program is to assist individuals in developing environmental awareness.
I am very excited to be apart of Project WILD as a certified member. The PD day provided me with excellent resources and information on how to teach environmental awareness in a fun and engaging way! Moreover, I now have a textbook with engaging lesson plans that I am now certified to teach and share with students to make learning about the environment fun! In an age of environmental awareness and focus on green initiatives it seems very important to present this information to students. Along with my background on geography and earth science, Project WILD was a great experience.
